Synopsis

The chapter begins with the attacking forces using unarmed slaves to create a path up the hill, seemingly a cruel and exploitative tactic. However, it is revealed to be a calculated move to sway public opinion and control the slaves. The defenders, under Lord Lakrak, unexpectedly open the castle doors to save the slaves, aware that some may be hidden weapons. This act provokes the attackers and a fierce counter-attack ensues, highlighting the attackers' inexperience in hill castle sieges.
