Synopsis

This chapter introduces Helene, Ian's new teacher who is a powerful magician known for combat. She acknowledges Ian's victory over Cecilia, a named magician spy, which is what earned him Helene's attention. Helene expresses her disdain for traditional magic instruction, wanting to teach Ian her practical combat-focused style. Others worry about Ian fighting her, but Helene disregards them and gives the initiative to Ian, who appears to surprise her with some action.
