Synopsis

The chapter begins with Mareda, the demonic sword, attacking in the middle of the day, which is unexpected due to her weakened state during daylight hours. The group quickly realizes that something is amiss as she seems to be operating with a purpose, and they later discover that two members were attacked overnight and drained of blood, pointing to Mareda. They theorize a third party is manipulating her, and the group decides to secure a fortress within the city (a nobleman's estate) to prepare. They then decide to wait for Mareda’s next move, realizing she is moving with a purpose. They are wary of attacks by her or those using her as a cover.
