Synopsis

The Saint arrives in the Lessian Empire and, after a rude reception from some royals, diagnoses the Emperor's mysterious illness as Stiff-Person Syndrome, deducing that someone had forcefully moved his stiffened muscles, causing internal bleeding. The Saint performs emergency procedures and also deals with a bowel obstruction. Meanwhile, messengers from the Holy Empire investigate the Lessian Imperial family, discovering a complex political landscape rife with power struggles and mysterious deaths amongst the princes, leaving the Saint potentially vulnerable.
