The chapter opens with the defenders of Arden Valley on the brink of collapse, having lost half their forces to a relentless parasitic attack. Reinforcements finally arrive, including the mercenary group Carpe Diem, tasked with escorting a royal mage. Princess Teresa Hussey and her personal army also reach the scene. Carpe Diem is not interested in the conflict itself, but rather in their escort mission. A new, low-level warrior named Seol is introduced to the group.
