The chapter opens with the Emperor publicly punishing a noble, Marquis Bachman, for unspecified crimes. This act causes unrest among other nobles, who are quickly dismissed by the Emperor. Meanwhile, Sedna, frustrated and feeling neglected, drinks heavily and mistakenly believes a mystical golden softshell turtle is the moon. She then drunkenly gifts the turtle to Lagier, revealing that the turtle can talk, setting up a new mystery.
The Emperor punishes a noble and dismisses concerns from other nobles, while Sedna gets drunk and presents a mystical turtle (which she believes is the moon) as a gift to Lagier, only to reveal the turtle can talk.
