Synopsis

The chapter opens with a violent confrontation where a mercenary, Phoenix, is forced to fight and ends up in a bloodlusted state. A group of soldiers then try to conscript a student mage and her companion, who reveals himself to be a constable, into the ongoing conflict. The student mage is overwhelmed by the scale of the battle and the ferocity of the opposing forces, realizing she is woefully unprepared despite being placed on the front lines due to her companion's shield. The student plans an escape, but is asked to watch the backs of another charge
