Synopsis

Following his formal adoption into the royal family and designation as a crown prince candidate, the second prince, Ricardi, is targeted by increasingly brazen assassination attempts, orchestrated by the first prince and his faction, and even with the aid of an old enemy. In response, the court assigns a new guard, Rosalyn, whose capabilities are under question due to her family background, but are proven as she beats a knight unconscious during training. The chapter also provides context on the royal family's history, the circumstances surrounding the second prince's birth, and the power dynamics between factions within the court.
