Synopsis

Joshua, displaying power beyond a normal human, destroys a seemingly holy artifact and reveals he can control demonic energy. This scene is juxtaposed with a political discussion among powerful mages, focused on the actions of a traitor, Evergrant, and his search for the legendary Xerath Dick Orvis, a powerful mage who disappeared years ago. The chapter also hints that Joshua may have some connection to this powerful mage. There are a number of conflicts around trust and agendas, and a sense of rising action is building.
