He accepts an incredibly challenging S-star request as proof of his abilities, and is also caught up in a web of political intrigue involving the Emperor, his rivals Kaiser and Draxia, and the disappearance of a mage named Jack Steropes. The chapter ends with Ash still determined to get a plaque from the guild.
