Synopsis

The chapter opens with the Empress and her attendant discussing Felix and his devotion. The attendant now sees his 'fanaticism' as love, acknowledging her past misjudgment of him. Later, the attendant questions the Empress about a late-night encounter with Duke Marcus, which the Empress tries to downplay, raising suspicion. The chapter concludes with the Empress making a request of her attendant, who is then reprimanding other staff.
