Synopsis

The chapter depicts a conflict between a mage and a group of mercenaries. The mercenaries initially dismiss the mage, but quickly find themselves overwhelmed, with the mage mocking their arrogance. Despite an opportunity to leave with their lives, the mercenaries, particularly their leader, refuse, preferring death to admitting defeat and the mage further belittles them for valuing their pride over their comrades’ safety. The mercenary leader seems especially sensitive about being called out as a coward.
