Synopsis

The protagonist, initially confident in his mathematical analyses, is challenged to see the human reality of his viscounty's slums. He then clashes with his household, who are more concerned with the Lakan household's reputation after his gambling escapade. Frustrated by their lack of concern for the suffering people, he dismisses those with narrow perspectives and announces a duel between two of his subordinates to determine the new knight captain.
