After being escorted to a meeting, the protagonist is questioned by members of the GM Group regarding his interactions with Duke Berhen. The GM Group reveals their financial investment in both the game and the Duke, attempting to manipulate the protagonist's actions. However, the protagonist decides to betray their expectations and begins to plan the assassination of Duke Berhen, much to the dismay of his companion Elle, who feels it's a cowardly act. He rationalizes this as necessary to protect his own interests in this conflict.
The protagonist is interrogated by a powerful group, the GM Group, who are heavily invested in Duke Berhen. The protagonist then decides to assassinate the Duke instead of participating in their plans.
