Synopsis

The chapter opens with the characters discussing the sudden disappearance of the whirlpools, with some suspicion of dishonesty in the air. The group plans to investigate this with the help of the protagonist's father and sorcerers. Later, they encounter a scene of dead merpeople, before a large humpback whale bursts out of the ocean, causing a confrontation and concern for a character's safety. The whale's scar is noted and identified as a significant entity.
