Following the death of Captain Berkeley, King Jaksenguard decides to avenge him by targeting the 'Black Giant', a disciple of Barak, who is reportedly hiding with rebels. Despite initial plans for a massive assault, Jaksenguard decides to lead a smaller, more elite force, accompanied by new Captain Keller, and using the strategy to insert two loyalists into the Elite Guard by strategically targeting other Captains. The chapter ends with the king's forces confronting the rebels at the old castle.
