Synopsis

The chapter opens with a discussion of how a northern village deals with winter food shortages by hunting demonic beasts that come to them out of hunger, utilizing their meat, leather, and bones. A significant event occurs when a powerful Hydra appears, overwhelming the local forces. Karina, despite orders to stay back and be protected, wants to help and offers to do something for the battle effort. She is then discovered after the fight and told she should have stayed back. The chapter ends with her being told to warm her hands.
