Synopsis

The protagonist is ordered to stop a disease outbreak in Osprin, which he learns is distinct from those in other towns, suggesting a deliberate manipulation. He deduces that someone is orchestrating these events to push him towards becoming a Demonic Human, and suspects that this person may see him as an obstacle. He then reflects on the possibility of avoiding this fate, as well as pondering his father's condition and the family's power structure, before being interrupted.
