Synopsis

The chapter opens with discussion amongst medical officials concerned about the First Prince's involvement in finding a cure, worrying about the implications for their own reputation if he succeeds. The Prince, meanwhile, reveals he is highly knowledgeable about the disease's progression and symptoms, explaining the devastating effects of the "Devil's Blood" in detail. He then starts a treatment, rapidly healing a patient and unveiling that the disease is caused by a parasitic organism. Finally, he describes the required herbs and poisons needed to drain the organism's energy, and reveals the treatment's efficacy by showing an antibody-filled blood sample, shocking the observers.
