Synopsis

The chapter opens with the protagonist arriving at a toll checkpoint, where he finds the officials illegally extorting travelers. He refuses to pay and confronts the guards, revealing his authority as Prince Davey when the corrupt Viscount arrives. The Prince exposes the corruption and threats, while the Viscount is forced to bow before the Prince as it becomes clear that the region is being run poorly by Duke Varietta and his people. It ends with the prince mentioning rumours about the region.
