The chapter opens with the protagonist and his undead companions discussing their increased power, accepting their new forms unusually quickly. Meanwhile, a member of the Lival crime organization is captured and compelled to betray his group to the Count. The protagonist’s family prepares to attend a large ball while the protagonist continues to plot his next moves. The chapter ends with the protagonist giving the undead companions some very clear, specific and important instructions.
The protagonist, now a powerful undead, and his companions adapt quickly to their new state while a Lival member is interrogated and tasked with exposing his organization, leading to the protagonist's family heading to a ball.
