Synopsis

The chapter opens with Elric and others seemingly trapped after an event at a dragon's lair, hinting at prior conflict. It then flashes back to the beginning of an exam for aspiring magicians, where Elric meets Sean. The exam involves a difficult climb without using magic, and Elric initially struggles. Sean, despite his arrogance, is saved by Elric and then demands a reward. The two have a back-and-forth highlighting their clashing personalities but also forming a bond.
