Synopsis

The chapter introduces the eccentric Beast King, who tries to recruit the protagonist by offering to teach him Mirage Eyes. He challenges the protagonist to defeat a Dire Wolf using only magic martial arts. During the challenge the narrator reveals a history of the Nights Chronicle and its ties to a demon king, explaining why there is a demonic domain at the shrine. It is revealed the founder, once an alchemist, was driven by revenge and incorporated demonic power, and while revenge was achieved, a new goal was formed by the Beast King to settle their previous battle.
