Synopsis

Bjorn is reluctantly manipulated into testing a magical tool that the master claims can detect evil spirits, but Bjorn suspects it's a trick. Meanwhile, Erwin's intense desire for power is revealed to be a consequence of absorbing a high-ranking essence, leading to concerns about her increasing ruthlessness. The chapter ends with Bjorn realizing he's gained wealth, but must manage dangerous political entanglements while also being wary of the count.
