Synopsis

The chapter begins with authorities analyzing bone fragments found in a reservoir and collecting additional samples. They realize that the area's evacuation route is cut off by a battlefield, hindering organized evacuation efforts. A consensus forms that a dangerous, large predator is present, leading some to explore underwater while others head for the mountains for investigation. The chapter ends with the collection of samples from the site which reveal a large amount of animal bones and a plan to have them analyzed, along with a sample of aquatic plants.
