Synopsis

This chapter reveals that Vlad, a servant recognized by San Rosno, is viewed with suspicion by others, who fear his humble background and potential for trouble. Joseph Bayezid, despite being part of a powerful house, understands the political games at play, noticing how the convent head is influenced by Bishop Pierre, and also recognizing how his own growing influence could upset the balance of power. He then engages in a dangerous fight against a barbarian who is skilled in horseback riding, realizing he must focus on dismounting the rider to gain the upper hand.
