Synopsis

The chapter begins with the Ballaks healing in a hot spring while discussing Viktor's potential as a husband and leader. Smugglers attempt to ambush the Ballaks, but Viktor, leading the tribe, uses surprisingly sophisticated tactics, utilizing oil barrels and fire to counter the mercenaries. Viktor is revealed to be the Deputy Consul, and he is granted entry to the hero's spring after his leadership and strategic thinking are praised by the tribe elders.
