The protagonist is cursed with "Plague's Curse", decreasing his stats and vitality. He is given a quest to deliver a cursed jewel found in the sewers to the mage guild before the curse kills him. Upon arrival he encounters a rat-like field boss who also inflicts poison. The protagonist defeats the boss and gains poison resistance and ultimately succeeds in the quest.
