Ian is ambushed and poisoned by someone he knows, who confesses to being terrified of Ian's potential to overthrow him. The poison is meant to neutralize Ian's mana, but Ian uses it as an opportunity to leverage his power one last time, stabbing himself in the heart after researching this possibility. Subsequently, Ian seems to find himself in a place where he sees his deceased mother, possibly in an afterlife or hallucination, while back in the real world a large number of children and knights are lined up for a 'test'.
A character, Ian, is poisoned and confronted by an old friend, who reveals his fear of Ian's power and attempts to eliminate him, leading Ian to a desperate action. Ian then appears to be in a dream or afterlife where he sees his deceased mother.
