Irene is questioned by the Swordmaster about her motivations for wielding a sword, leading to the revelation that she's been imitating someone else. She's given a year to find her own path, and is given a family insignia by the Swordmaster as well as a flower to remember him by. Meanwhile, Brett, initially discouraged, finds new resolve after Irene's departure and decides to return to training. The chapter ends with Brett swearing to improve, and finally having a motivation to continue training after meeting Irene.
Irene is given a year to find her own reason for swordsmanship after it's revealed she was imitating someone. Brett returns, motivated by Irene's departure and realizing his own passion.
