Synopsis

The chapter sees the return of Prince Callian, now an adult, to his kingdom where he's greeted by an official who remarks on his growth and magical abilities. Meanwhile, the king expresses his anxieties about choosing a successor among his three sons: Randell, who appears thoughtful; Planche, who is straying from a good path; and the now-grown Callian, who is still developing. An advisor suggests choosing the least liked son to quell his concerns. The chapter concludes with the king acknowledging that the true motives and capabilities of his sons will only be revealed in time.
