An elf elder from Hiriska Village requests Prince Callian's help in locating five missing elves who disappeared near a human village. The elder offers the use of a magical "forest path" to shorten Callian's travel to Siegfried's land. Upon learning that two nearby cities are preparing for war, Callian understands the elder's request: to delay the conflict in order to rescue the missing elves before they become involved in the conflict. He prepares a letter to both lords in order to delay the impending battle and facilitate the elves' safe return.
The protagonist, Prince Callian, is asked by an elf elder to find five missing elves, and he agrees after learning they can use a forest path to speed their journey. He realizes the missing elves are caught between two warring city-states and decides to intervene.
