Synopsis

The chapter focuses on the protagonist's experience of being imprisoned in a dark, confined space for four months. They slowly adapt to the darkness, observing the environment and insects. A snake bite nearly kills them, but they survive, experiencing a transformation and a possible resistance to poison, along with improved vision as a result of the ordeal. They now believe they might be able to develop a weapon from this newfound power.
