Synopsis

The chapter opens with the protagonist, a struggling graduate student, having a chaotic morning and dealing with his frustrations of his studies and job prospects. He is then shockingly interrupted by a young girl who claims him as her father. This is further complicated when the girl's mother, his past fling, confirms his paternity over the phone and then leaves their daughter in his care, citing a mysterious "situation" she can't elaborate on. This leaves him reeling, forced to accept this sudden change to his life.
