Synopsis

After a difficult initial climb, the characters celebrate their success but are immediately informed they must repeat the climb nine more times. They also must endure rocks being thrown at them by their trainer, just as before. One character, initially resistant, is spurred on by the challenge. The chapter emphasizes the harshness of the training and the characters' growing awareness of their physical and mental limits.
