Synopsis

Sir Ian examines a jewel, learning it was made by an alchemist, and uses this discovery to leverage his dealings with Count Merelof who owes him money. Sir Ian implements a tax on roasted gula, a strategic move that limits the Count's economic reach. He then offers to train the Count's butler, Simon, seemingly as another power play, while also using the offer as an excuse to try and recruit him. This chapter showcases Sir Ian's cunning nature and his ability to control others through financial and political schemes.
