Synopsis

The chapter opens with a flashback of Jack Valantier's intimidating presence causing another student to wet himself, then shows Jack two days later, unusually kind and concerned when the same student becomes ill after eating Jack's food. Jack offers the student a place to stay and eat comfortably. We also discover that Jack is being monitored by six people and resides in a villa given to him as a gift.
