Synopsis

The chapter begins with the main character lamenting his past and wishing he could have prevented his sister's departure, which led to his becoming a "monster". He recalls his master fondly and then confronts a boy named "Jack" who seeks to avenge his father, whom the main character killed. The main character, nearing death, allows Jack a chance to kill him but ultimately believes such a path would lead to a miserable life for Jack, choosing to let the boy live before dying himself, having decided his pitiful life to be over.
