Synopsis

The chapter opens with a philosophical exploration of the self and sensory perception as the boy participates in a special class. He later encounters the Headmaster, challenging his authority and asking to see magic, expressing his belief that magic is linked to understanding truth. The Headmaster introduces the concept of the "Spirit Zone", an extremely sensitive mind state, as a prerequisite for magic, and tasks the boy to first feel himself before aiming for this state, while also indicating that the boy's lack of noble status may hinder his progress.
