Synopsis

Cruel, who was offered the position of Hart family patriarch, declines it, revealing his intense desire for revenge on his family. Meanwhile, the Emperor is plagued by nightmares and guilt over his role in a past war, which lead to his people suffering. He attempts to reward Cruel for a successful mission, despite Cruel’s uncooperative attitude and his refusal of both a new title and the Hart patriarch position. The chapter ends with the Emperor dealing with his internal turmoil and an imminent war, requiring the protagonist to work with a demon.
