The chapter opens with a seemingly random potion working wonders before shifting to the protagonist being confronted by his brother, much to the surprise of his acquaintances. He then gets into an altercation where he reveals he can use magic without the usual chants, causing shock and injuring a student. The final pages reveal the protagonist has a severely damaged face that no one seemed to have noticed before.
The protagonist is confronted by his brother and then demonstrates powerful, chantless magic, surprising onlookers and breaking a student's arm. He is also revealed to have a terrible face.
