Synopsis

The chapter opens with Helmut reading a letter from his mentor, instructing him to attend the Greta Academy and seek out Ethan Kudrow for help. Upon arrival in town, Helmut pays for food and lodging, attracting the attention of some local thugs who try to extort him. He refuses and is threatened, eventually choosing to lead the thugs into the nearby forest to avoid damaging his lodging, knowing a confrontation is inevitable.
