Synopsis

A merchant attempts to recruit the protagonist as a personal mercenary but is turned down, though they still provide a generous 'investment' fee. The protagonist discovers the corpse of a 'pathetic soldier,' granting them abilities, and reflects on the game and world they have been thrust into. The protagonist is in the massive labyrinth city, the gateway to the dangerous underground, they learn of the reward at the bottom, and confirm their intention to reach it, encountering a friend from the tutorial.
