The chapter begins with Zi's past self, known for prioritizing survival. He and his undead are trapped by the Nagas, who are hunting them relentlessly. Zi orders all his undead to flee at all costs, hoping at least one will survive. Despite their losses and Zi facing a grim situation and even acknowledging his impending death, he uses the remaining undead to force a sacrifice which triggers temporary power boost, with an intervention from the High Elf Queen, who creates an escape route for him.
