Synopsis

The chapter focuses on a heartfelt conversation between Penelope and the Duke. He recounts his past actions, explaining how he took her in out of pity and affection, and apologizes for his shortcomings as a father. Penelope, however, is firm in her decision to leave, believing she's simply a replacement for Yvonne and that her time in the Duchy is over. Despite the Duke's genuine feelings, Penelope plans a final farewell, seeing herself as merely a character in a game.
