Synopsis

The chapter focuses on the interaction between Boris and his newly appointed servant, Ranzier. Boris initially chooses Ranzier because he seems easily manipulated, but Ranzier proves to be observant and provides detailed information about Boris's new family. He informs Boris about his master's travel schedule, his strict but generous nature, his wife's sensitivity, and the upcoming birthday party for her. Ranzier then reveals his own background and his sister's presence in the castle, asking Boris for a brief leave to see her.
